Today I have been here ! This is an annual event and is very popular in the area.
The morning dawned bright and sunny and cars and vans pulled up outside the hall, disgorging a plethora of vendors, all eager to set up their stalls and display their wares.
As usual, we had a mixture of Charity stalls, selling various donated objects, to raise funds for their respective causes …………..
And Craft stalls, filled to the brim with the most beautifully made ‘crafty’ things. There were Handmade Soaps of every scent and colour; some ingeniously shaped like cup-cakes and licquorice sweets. Soft and snuggly knitted cardigans and sweet bonnets for babies and toddlers. Handmade jewellery; dog leads; beautifully stitched cushions and Christmas bunting; scarves and books; hair ornaments and ribbons; etched glassware and plates and even a Candy Floss stall.
As a member of the Skidby Village Hall Committee, I was manning the Tombola Stall for a couple of hours …… and did a fairly brisk business as folk tried to win one or more of the excellent prizes on offer. The Cafe dispensed tea, coffee and a delicious array of homemade cakes and pastries to sustain the vendors and shoppers …….and a grand time was had by all ! ……. Oh …..and the sun shone all day !
I bet you’re sorry you missed it !!!
See you next year ? ……………………
On behalf of the Committee, I would like to say a big “THANK YOU ” to everyone who attended the Fair ….whether as a stall-holder or as a customer. And “WELL DONE” to the hard-working Committee members for the baked goods, setting up, clearing up and generally “Being There”.
