The calm after the storm.
Yesterday the tail-end of Hurricane Gonzalo whizzed across the Atlantic and lashed the UK. We were battered and bruised by winds and rain.
Dustbins trundled down the road; branches were bent to breaking point and leaves swirled and tumbled across roads and lawns.
The sensible among us huddled in our homes with hatches well and truly battened-down.
Today the storm has passed and the village has its fresh-washed, smiley face once again. Apart from a few bare branches and heaps of ragged leaves …. its as if the storm never happened ……………….
